This position provides professional sonography services to complement complete patient care through direct and indirect contact.

Essential Job Functions:

Performs sonography procedures as ordered by physicians
Maintains patient confidentiality and abides by HIPPA regulations at all times
Prepares patients for sonogram by explaining procedure, transferring patient to ultrasound table, and positioning patient properly
Observes and cares for patients throughout the exam to ensure their safety and comfort
Selects appropriate equipment settings and adjust patient positions to obtain the best sites and angles for quality images.
Provides and transmits sonogram images and oral or written summary of technical findings to radiologist and/or physician for use in medical diagnosis
Monitors sonography supplies and reports to supervisor to order supplies
Assists in archiving all radiology studies into PACS system
Cleans and sterilizes equipment and exam table in sonography room
Maintains sonography equipment to the best of his/her ability
Maintains sonography log of patient exams
Advises supervisor and medical staff of any problems with sonography procedures, efficiency, safety and overall service
Performs other appropriate duties as requested by supervisors

Working Conditions:

This position works in a medical office/ clinic environment. Potential exposure to blood, bodily fluids and other blood borne pathogens, as well as potential for exposure to hazardous substances. Constant interaction with co-workers, patients, vendors and general public, which may involve individuals who are angry, upset or ill.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time. Additionally, requires the ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position. Some bending, stooping squatting and lifting up to 50 pounds. Must have visual acuity and manual dexterity to assist with procedures, perform and interpret lab results, and interface with the computer and its operating systems. Must have auditory acuity to effectively interact with patients and public via direct and indirect communication.

Essential Qualifications:

Licensure- ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography)
CPR certification
Ability to multitask
Can interface with computers effectively
Learns new concepts and procedures quickly

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous medical office or hospital experience
Previous computer experience or training
