Responsible for the direction of patient care in a medical surgical setting. Manages staff members in the facility. Consults with staff, physicians and COO on issues and the interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met and the Company is compliant.
Essential Job Functions:
Responsible for the direction of the PACU and the inpatient unit staff.
Acts as liaison between staff members, administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
Assists in the hiring, disciplinary actions, separation, performance evaluations and other various aspects of staffing and administration of staff members
Provides a weekly report to the CNO regarding the critical issues regarding staff, processes and procedures
Leads, teaches and organizes staff training on various topics
Responsible for all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
Ability to revise a plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate the overall plan daily for effectiveness
Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients’ needs are met and hospital policy is followed.
Monitors compliance with regulations and participates in the survey process.
Provides leadership of the Utilization Review Committee.
Works with nursing staff to facilitate appropriate documentation in the EHR.
Prepares reports, i.e., utilization, performance improvement, and outcome data.
Protects patient’s right to privacy
Maintains composure and appropriately responds to patients and staff members
Ability to create documentation that meets current standards, policies and procedures and in a timely manner
Secondary Job Functions:
Provides innovative input into the development of the hospital environments and its processes
Participates in facility performance improvement activities
Creates and maintains policy and procedures to State and Federal regulations
Maintains policy and procedures in relation to hospital/ clinic regulations
This position works in varied environments including medical office, acute care facilities, operating rooms and recovery rooms, as well as potential for off premise work and travel. Regularly exposed to patients’ conditions and some unpleasant sights, various odors, noise, bodily fluid and communicable diseases. Constant interaction with co-workers, patients, vendors and general public, which may involve individuals who are angry, upset or ill.
This position is primarily an action position requiring walking, bending, stooping, crawling, squatting and lifting up to 50 pounds. At times must lift up to 75 pounds. Potential for long periods of standing. Must have visual acuity and manual dexterity to interface with the computer and other facility operating systems. Must have auditory acuity to effectively interact with patients and public.
Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Kansas
Current BLS certification
Minimum of two (2) years work experience as a Registered Nurse
Maintains regulatory requirements and completes annual education requirements
Attends the required annual education program
Can interface with computers effectively
Learns new concepts and procedures quickly
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to manage time and appropriately prioritize tasks and responsibilities
Ability to communicate effectively and in a professional and courteous manner with co-workers, vendors and other people in contact with
Adheres to dress code standards
Minimum of three (3) years of previous work experience as a lead or supervisor in a healthcare facility
Current ACLS certification
Regular schedule is Monday – Friday, 8 hours a day. Hours will vary based upon hospital needs.
