At a young age it is unique to find someone with a fascination in both math and science. Dr. Brandi Wiens, MD, was that someone. However, it wasn’t until much later that she discovered it would steer her entire career path towards medicine

While working as a receptionist at Pinnacle Rehab in November 2006, Dr. Wiens lost someone very close to her. At that point it triggered a mission to garner a further understanding of medicine. Not long after, she was drawn to specifically the family spectrum.

Born and raised in Hutchinson, Dr. Wiens earned both her Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology and Doctor of Medicine from the University of Kansas. Her residency was also through the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita where she worked alongside Wesley’s Family Medicine program. During her studies, Dr. Wiens gained experience in everything from new baby exams to chronic diabetes, high blood pressure to laceration repair. And that was just day one of her clerkship. The variety in patients is what energizes her. Being able to care for anyone at any age range is where her passion and love for family medicine comes from.
Carrying the title of “physician” is a privilege Dr. Wiens holds in extremely high regards. It is what makes her day-to-day so rewarding. And, having all of it in the community she was raised is a true team win.

Dr. Wiens has two children, Trevor and Chloe. Outside of work, they spend a lot of time staying active, playing and watching sports. Any time the Jayhawks have a televised game; it is a family event in their house. Being involved in church and vacationing to Estes Park, Colorado are also ways they like to spend family time.
