Responsible for monitoring and analyzing overall revenue cycle health and day-to-day supervision of the business office staff to include coding, collection, reimbursement specialist and new patient coordinators.

Essential Job Functions:

Monitors legislative updates from Medicare and Medicaid, tracks all changes, and communicates changes to operating departments
Monitors/reviews all incoming records request related to third payer chart reviews
Monitors financial performance indicators for charges and collections
Provides education and support to departments
Ensures Charge Master compliance and optimization for all departments
Monitors and performs all activities related to credentialing for providers employed by all practices within the Summit.
Assists/supports employees within the revenue cycle
Monitors/performs scheduling of staff within the revenue cycle
Monitor RAC requests/results for potential trends
Review denial trends and works to improve documentation, compliance or awareness of denial sources
Evaluate reimbursement for services to ensure amounts received are consistent with amounts expected
Develop/implement policies and procedures related to all aspects of the revenue cycle process
Communicate with patients via phone, email or letter to assist in resolution of complaints or concerns
Isolate and identify areas of needed improvement with regards to revenue cycle management
Compile and print reports as required
Supervises non-clinical staff as assigned
Develop protocols pertaining to revenue cycle processes
Maintains records pertinent to personnel
Assists in the hiring, disciplinary actions, separation, performance evaluations and other various aspects of staffing and administration of assigned staff members
Maintains patient and Company confidentiality at all times
Completes projects and special assignments by establishing objectives, determining priorities, managing time, gaining cooperation from others, monitoring progress, problem solving and making adjustments

Secondary Job Functions:

Provides innovative input into the development of departmental environments and its processes
Creates and maintains policy and procedures to State and Federal regulations as it pertains to revenue cycle
Creates and maintains policy and procedures in relation to hospital/ clinic regulations as it pertains to revenue cycle

Working Conditions:

This position primarily works in an office environment, however has potential for varied environments. Constant interaction with co-workers, patients, vendors and general public, which may involve individuals who are angry, upset or ill. Potential for exposure to hazardous material, blood or bodily fluids.

Physical Requirements:

This position is primarily an office position requiring walking, bending, stooping, crawling, squatting and lifting up to 25 pounds. Potential for long periods of sitting, standing or viewing a computer screen. Additionally, repetitive movements are required. Must have visual acuity and manual dexterity to interface with the computer. Must have auditory acuity to effectively interact with patients and staff.

Essential Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Education/Experience
3 – 5 years of job related experience in healthcare setting
Can interface with computers effectively
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs: Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
Learns new concepts and procedures quickly
Excellent organizational skills
Honesty
Accuracy
Ability to manage time and appropriately prioritize tasks and responsibilities
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, vendors and other people in contact with in a professional and courteous manner

Preferred Qualifications:

CPC or AHIMA Coding Certification
Customer Service experience
Experience with Athena and NextGen
