Dr. Jonathan Loewen is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, arthroscopy, joint preservation, and injury care. Raised in Hillsboro and long established in the Hutchinson medical community, Dr. Loewen has served patients across central Kansas for decades with advanced orthopedic expertise and a deep commitment to local care.

Dr. Loewen completed his undergraduate degree in natural science at Tabor College and earned a master’s degree in biology from Wichita State University. He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, then completed his orthopedic surgery residency through the University of Kansas/Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita. He went on to complete fellowship training at Lake Tahoe Orthopedic Institute in Zephyr Cove, Nevada, with advanced specialization in sports medicine and arthroscopy.

Dr. Loewen is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He is widely known for his work in ACL and meniscus repair, rotator cuff reconstruction, arthroscopic surgery, sports injury care, and fracture care.

As part of The Summit Institute for Orthopedics, Spine, and Human Movement, Dr. Loewen helps anchor a growing orthopedic program built around specialized expertise, coordinated care, and access close to home. His sports medicine and arthroscopy experience complements the hip and knee reconstruction care now available through Dr. Benjamin Young, giving patients in the Hutchinson region access to a broader range of orthopedic treatment options, including many nonsurgical approaches.
