Dr. Randolph Bishop is a board-certified neurosurgeon specializing in spine surgery, minimally invasive spine approaches, and complex pain medicine. After traveling to The Summit each month over the past year to consult with patients and perform spine surgery, Dr. Bishop and his family have relocated from Savannah, Georgia, to Hutchinson to join The Summit team permanently.
Dr. Bishop brings more than 29 years of neurosurgical experience to Summit Spine. He was drawn to Hutchinson by the quality of Summit Surgical Hospital and the opportunity to help build what he believes can become the preeminent spine practice in the central states. His arrival expands access to advanced spine care for patients across central Kansas and the surrounding region.
Known for his surgical innovation, Dr. Bishop is a pioneer practitioner of Oblique Lateral Lumbar Interbody Fusion, or OLLIF, a minimally invasive spine technique not available anywhere else in this region. He also holds patents on two spinal implant systems, the Savannah Lumbar Pedicle Screw and the Savannah Interbody Expansion Fusion Cage.
Dr. Bishop completed his medical degree cum laude at the University of Missouri in Columbia and completed his neurosurgery internship and residency at the University of Alabama Hospitals. He also holds an MBA from Auburn University and is a diplomate of both the American Board of Neurological Surgery and the American Board of Pain Medicine.
Dr. Bishop is helping shape The Summit’s spine program into a regional destination for advanced neurosurgical care. His experience, surgical innovation, and minimally invasive spine expertise give patients access to specialized treatment options that previously may have required traveling much farther from home.
